The paperwork is done. The lawyer has everything he needs to close the sale. Now the work...the real work...commences. We have set a goal of listing this house in the next three weeks. We have mountains of sorting to do, because precious little will be moving with us to our new home.
Our children are happy that we will be sorting through and discarding. This means less for them to do down the road. I have often heard said that the first half of your life is spent accumulating things and the last half of your life is spent getting rid of those things. How true!
When I contemplate the process of packing and sorting and cleaning, I develop palpitations. Last night when I had a few minutes to myself, I gave myself a little pep talk. "Worrying," I told myself, "will get you nowhere. So far, things have gone smoother than anyone has expected, and there is every reason to believe that this trend should continue. Test the theories. Think positively. Expect the best and that is what will come into your life. Leave the rest to a Higher Power."
So...that is my intention. I will work on my attitude as I work on this home... All is well...and this shall be my focus...
Good idea...one day at a time.....fate will take care of the rest. And in the end, you will be in your dream home and all will be worth it.
ReplyDeleteWhew! This is a hard task, both physically and mentally. I know when we moved here two years ago, I got rid of so much that I eventually had to replace, but it did feel much better to be rid of old stuff. I look forward to hearing how the process is going as the days go by...
ReplyDeleteall the best!
ReplyDeleteGood luck with everything. It sounds like you have lots of work ahead of you but it will be worth it. Your new home sounds lovely and your family will enjoy it too so that's great.
ReplyDeleteI can't imagine moving house. We have so much stuff. I would love to spend some time thinnimg it out. Looking forward to hearing how it all goes.

It's all about attitude. :-D I think that once a person decides to part with things and then gets to it the work gets done fast. All we need to do is start with one thing and keep on hauling. Remind me that I said this when I commence with the worrying! BTW, if it is true about spending half your life gathering things and the second half getting rid of it, well, I'm gonna live to be 100 years old. :-D
ReplyDeleteYou have a great attitude about it all! Letting your higher power guide you is a brilliant idea! That's what gets me through most of the time...if I let him!
ReplyDeletejust to add to your palpitations...just a reminder that within the next 3 weeks at some point you will also be in a delivery room...supporting your daughter as she falls apart!! lol
ReplyDeleteIf you need ANY help with the house, packing, painting, etc...we will be there in a heart beat. We just want this to be an easy transition for you guys!!
