My Craft and I

Below is a picture that I snapped, while on a paddle on Lake Simcoe a few summers ago.

That picture cried to be put on canvas...so that when the winters were cold and dreary, I could better picture myself in my craft, on a beautiful sunny day.

This is my painting.

I have entered in a Women's Art Show in Orillia, entitled "The Journey" that runs throughout the month of March. I am honoured to say that it has been chosen to be used on the brochures and pamphlets advertising this show. A book will be published that includes the paintings and stories that have been part of the show.

Entitled "My Craft and I" (thanks dad!) this is my story...

“To strive…to seek... to find…and not to yield." At a time in my life when I was mourning the loss of my dear friend, Kitty, I discovered “Paddle to a Cure – Journeys of Hope,” a sea-kayaking expedition that in five years, raised close to one million dollars for Breast Cancer Research. I participated, and not only discovered a love of kayaking, but also a way to channel my grief to benefit others.

    Hi Wendy
I love your wonderful painting. In answer to your question my choice would be Lindors Country House because I had a great time there with our friends that I will always remember.

  2. Love the picture and yes, I can see where it would definitely be one that -as you put it -cries to be put on canvas. Isn't it amazing how somethings reach out to us, demand, command, that we apply whatever talents we have to putting them out for others to see too! Inspiration comes in many forms, doesn't it?

Jeni...You are so right. Inspiration DOES come in many forms. I am loving your embroidery projects BTW. You are a talented lady.

Hi Lindsay and Jessica! Thank you for your comments. The show is not juried but I am pleased the painting has been chosen to be used on the brochures. Jessica...You will not believe this, but I knew the second choice would be yours. You are just that kind of girl...and I am glad that we met thru blogging!

  4. The painting, in my humble opinion, is brilliant, and even better than the photograph, because it's got a deeper significance. This is just wonderful, Wendy!! Thanks so much for sharing this.
