by Dylan Thomas
Do not go gentle into that good night,
Old age should burn and rave at close of day;
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.
Though wise men at their end know dark is right,
Because their words had forked no lightning, they
Do not go gentle into that good night.
Good men, the last wave by, crying how bright
Their frail deeds might have danced in a green bay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.
Wild men who caught and sang the sun in flight
And learn, too late, they grieved it on its way
Do not go gentle into that good night.
Grave men, near death, who see with blinding sight
Blind eyes could blaze like meteors and be gay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.
And you, my father, there on the sad height,
Curse, bless, me now with your fierce tears, I pray.
Do not go gentle into that good night.
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.
Yes, Wendy. Well said. It's like the whole world is sick, and I also wonder what the future holds for us, for all of us. Thanks for your poignant and timely post.
ReplyDeleteWow... I agree with DJan. Thanks for visiting my blog. I must say, I never heard of Kidney Pie--
ReplyDeleteNothin like mom's homecooking.
Well Paula...my wish has a twist. I don't know how to make it so may mom would have to. She has moved on now so I wish i could have one more afternoon with her, and her steak and kidney pie.
ReplyDeleteEverything that is going on in the world today is very disheartening. I worry about our futures...all of us, all over the world. It is almost like everthing is crumbling around us.
ReplyDeleteI know... but Hugo's quote gives me comfort...
ReplyDelete"HAVE COURAGE FOR THE GREAT SORROWS OF LIFE AND PATIENCE FOR THE SMALL ONES; AND WHEN YOU HAVE LABORIOUSLY ACCOMPLISHED YOUR DAILY TASK, GO TO SLEEP IN PEACE. GOD IS AWAKE." VICTOR HUGO
that's a beautiful poem..
ReplyDeleteBeautiful and timely, expresses what is in my heart Wendy, thank you for sharing....:-) Hugs
