My transition from cluttered to simple living.

Earth Hour!

Hubby and I were in the car when Earth Hour began, but we came home to a dark house. The only visible light source was the computer monitor but Hubby turned that off...(I am SO proud of him!) The fish shared our evening of darkness too, as I turned off the lighting in the tank. Candles were lit, and then Hubby and I did something we seldom do any more... (No...not "THAT!")...we played a game of Yahtzee.

We seldom play games anymore. We are seldom off at the same time. I rediscovered a fun thing to do...simple...cheap...fun.

Earth Hour became an hour and a half long in our house. And...just in case you are wondering... I WON!

How did you spend Earth Hour this year?

"What's this?" you say...

Well...Obviously it is my six new raised garden beds!  Can you see the smile on my face???

Celebrating my BD...

...made sweeter still, by the ladies, gents and kidlets in my life....

A gift from Wayne....

...a gift from Dad...

And where do you put a candle when you are dieting? On a low fat, low sugar fudgicle, of course!

March 16th was a great day. I received emails and phone calls...flowers...and the promise of more to come. The boys will be putting together some raised gardens for me soon. Yay for birthdays, and for all of the wonderful people in my life!!!

What memories does a gorgeous spring day bring to mind?

Robins, crows and blackbirds returned at last...
Peddle-pushers, skorts, and games of the past.
Hop-scotch and marbles, open-toed shoes...
Barefoot and bicycles... and skip to "my Lou's".
Sunshine and shower,
A newly bloomed flower........

Your turn!

I just had to share...

I have REALLY missed spending time on my blog, and reading yours, however...since my last post I have accomplished a little more than I usually do...

A road trip rewarded me with this sighting....

I cannot imagine anything more beautiful...

...however... a close-up of this fellow might have changed my mind... Cardinals are absolutely beautiful too!

In spite of spending a great deal of time studying, I used my leisure time to start another painting, finish a cross stitch. and resume working on the project below. Can you guess what it is?

Next Christmas will be a little different. I hope to make more gifts and I am starting NOW!

My sleeping garden is waking and I hear it calling to me. Soon, darling...soon!

I just love this flower...

Isn't it beautiful? I can hardly wait for the snow to clear and for spring to make an appearance. I am looking forward to seeing my daffodils poke their noses through the soil. Planting bulbs such as these give a body something to look forward to...all winter long.

Isn't it is strange the things that we look forward to? We are all so different and so are the things we hold dear. Aside from the joys of parenthood and grandparenthood (which are tops on my list...) I will dance for joy at the thoughts of attending a quilt show....or the prospect of an opportunity to go for a paddle. Calls from loved ones, a weekend with a friend. a visit from dad, new undies and socks, plans for a bigger garden...all these and more give me goosebumps.

I look forward to reading my daily news...the blogs of friends I have met along the way. This kind of social networking has filled a void in my life and has helped to pass the long winter months.

My posts will be less frequent now, and I may miss some of your news throughout the coming season. I am still here, however.. cheering you on and celebrating with you, the things that make you happy...and hope to check in, and post, on a weekly basis. I will be back with a vengeance in the fall, and will take pics and keep track of all that has happened along the way.
